Welcome to Mare’s Art! My name is Mary Anne Hjelmfelt, I am a portrait and mixed media artist in Fort Collins, CO. I especially enjoy creating commissioned portraits of people and pets, along with custom paintings of meaningful places, and special locations that hold personal stories.

Much of my work centers on nature, often featuring flowers, landscapes or wildlife that encourage respect for the Earth. 

My mixed-media pieces combine acrylic paint, textured papers, and dimensional materials, creating layered surfaces that invite closer viewing and a sense of touch. I have also ventured into the realm of acrylic pours, which has been a blast and provides a spontaneous contrast to the precision in my portraits.
